  3. I was indeed to hasty, I wrote down something that didn't relay properly what I intended to mean. I recognize and respect the fact people have RPed their characters and progressed them, that is what RP is about. I should have said that it would seem giving the Progressed players a large amount of points to start of with would be no different than the 'progression system' that is now semi in place. It just makes it obvious by giving numbers out. Someone posted that the idea would be something like everyone would receive around 10 points per week, this would allow the more advanced characters the chance to max out areas, as they will continue playing the characters. It is in essence a snowball effect, ending up with even more powerful arch type classes. I apologize for the miss-wording and hasty response.
  4. Regardless of how I feel about how you addressed me Rat, Option Two still stands as: If this system is put into place it increases the work load of the staff and requires players to edit posts frequently causing them the trouble of keeping updates of numbers in a new thread for each individual character, as that is what it would require to maintain the information in a record; biography required class or not. That way the points can be seen, kept up with, and validated by Staff. That would also mean a new forum topic for the biography's of skill points per individual character to be created. This a viable and logical reasoning of what would be required for this system to take effect and be put into action.
  5. Giving older progressed characters increased points is just like leaving the system as it is now because they are being given them for time spent here aka IC game time. It means they are still starting out above the rest of the players, and would make the point mute. Let me put it another way: That would mean the same characters who are 'IG progressed' even if that time was half spent sitting in the mall, will still be rewarded for being here longer, while new players have to start out at ground zero as they do currently. I don't see how that is in any way a 'new' system. But if this is put into play: If this system is put into place it increases the work load of the staff and requires players to edit posts frequently causing them the trouble of keeping updates of numbers in a new thread for each individual character, as that is what it would require to maintain the information in a record; biography required class or not. That way the points can be seen, kept up with, and validated by Staff. That would also mean a new forum topic for the biography's of skill points per individual character to be created. This a viable and logical reasoning of what would be required for this system to take effect and be put into action. I 100% agree with this. Again, 100% in agreement.
  6. I tend to agree with Jaley and Silver. As a new player it does seem that the older players are given an unfair and unattainable level that no newer player can reach. Just seems a verry biased system and a turn off to new players forced to deal with powerful characters they can in no way contend with even should they have a better knowledge and application of the class, thus limiting the RP's they choose/ feel comfortable to engage in.
  7. I amended two things in italics, but otherwise I am in agreement with these terms.
  8. Lose the attitude before I lose my manners. I granted a months time to get to know the person before applying for a biography. Read what I write if you're going to attempt jumping down my throat. Weren't you the one who said to keep this civil?
  9. You're not taking everything I said into account. I gave the month to let the player become known and to see how the RPer is, and to see what sort of RPer they are, never disputed that a month's time was outrageous. But someone who follows the rules, has no negative marks against them, and can provide a biography that is sound and follows lore. I think they should be allowed the chance to play what they wish if it is on the list. Monitor their RP for a while if it makes you feel better, but provided they do nothing wrong, I see no harm in allowing them to write freely as the character they wish, it is supposed to be fun for players, not a waiting game so they can actually write what they want. I do think having a straight rule across the field runs away many RPers. Raz has posted about a decline in new members, is it not at least worth a shot? Numbers wont lie, we will be able to tell just as Raz was able to tell the severe drop of new blood coming into Paragon. There should be some give and take for each situation. No two cases are the same, and they shouldn't be dealt with that way. You don't treat every person you meet exactly the same, why should this be any different?
  10. If the player has no track record of abuse, power-playing, meta-gaming or any other infraction, then I fail to see reason behind disallowing them the chance at a prestige class that can be -revoked- if they misuse it. You keep citing how other players have had to wait X amount of time and how it is unfair to them. How is it fair to a player who's been here over a month, been granted builder status and had zero marks against them the chance to RP a prestige class. It's no different than a player who's spent months RPing in taverns applying and being approved simply because an allotted amount of time has passed. If the class is revokable then should the player mess things up, revoke the character. It's simple. And if we keep saying it's not fair to those who waited X amount of time, then things will never change using that line of logic. When does the unfairness of the players who had to wait become more important than the unfairness of players who do things correctly and are yet still denied based on game time alone?
  11. This looks really nice, bravo. <3
  12. um Throughout the history of Azeroth there have been many archmagi. Just being named an archmage doesn't make a mage extremely powerful, but most are not to be trifled with. Weaving their intricate enchantments, these mages defend humanity with all the magical powers at their disposal. Seeing as It is possible that the magisters in Silvermoon can be classed as archmages. They have the same range of tasks and the same magical ability of an archmage. I don't see where one would reason that people 'distrust mages' or that anyone on this server who is RPing their Archmage correctly, would not defend their people with their very lives. (again Archmage does NOT have to mean a power filled being, it can be something average as Raz has divided Archmagi into three different categories) As far as peoples perceptions go, the wiki goes on to state Though gruff and slightly aloof, these experienced wizards are a heartening sight upon any battlefield where the fate of humanity lies in peril. 13. I understand your point...kind of like how can someone go insane and kill people, yet when they are at their 'job' this illness no longer effects them? Where is the distinction and how would a mind that IS ill know to act appropriately at the appropriate times, and it never crosses the line between the two?
  14. You may need to download bittorrent first then download the torrent file from pirate bay, that caused a weird thing on mine, but after installing bittorrent and choosing it to download cata everything went smoothly and I just followed the rest of the guide provided. Hope that helps :)
