List of Changes - April and May 2020

Mod

Hey there Paragon!

A good deal of discussion has been happening lately given our suddenly increased numbers, and a couple of suggestions and changes have been brought to the Moderation teams attention and we've deliberated and weighed in on them accordingly across the past two monthes. We hope these changes and desicions suit the community and it's needs going forwards!

1. Expanding on the definition of ‘Loa’ in terms of Class and Race list

It was brought to our attention that the definition of ‘Loa’ has changed since it was added to the forbidden list, and thus the Moderation Team has deliberated a few new entries on the Class and Race List.

- Loa is being removed from the forbidden list and ‘Wild God’ is going in its place.
- Ancestral Spirits are going to become playable and are going in the ‘Contact Mod’ section.
- Wisps are going into the free section.

2. Dragonspawn and Drakonid's Inclusion on the Class List

Drakonid and Dragonspawn have been missing from the Class and Race list for quite a while. This is being rectified now, as Dragons are playable and these lesser tiers of creatures related to the Dragon flights are not nearly as powerful as the Dragons themselves. While not being totally dependant on the Dragonflights' will anymore, they are still bound to serve their respective dragonflights accordingly, instead of just wandering around freely like a dragon.

Thus, both Dragonspawn and Drakonid are being added to the ‘Contact Mod’ section of the character list, as it was decided they should still be put under a similar level of scrutiny as a Drake this does mean however, that any of these characters will be kept a close eye on in the coming future.

3. Making a format for Contact Moderation Characters

As of late we’ve noticed that there’s been a few problems when it comes to recording what people have asked for from the Contact Moderation list of Classes and Races, thus, we’ve decided to bring upon a little format that should hopefully keep with the spirit of ease and speed of the Contact Moderation Character system in general. The format is below…

Spoiler

"Character’s In-game name: What is the character called in-game, this includes entirely separate characters under different names such as guises but not the characters full name, should Karsten be used as an example, the correct thing to put here would be ‘Karsten’ rather than ‘Karsten Helmstag’

Race and/or Class you are asking for: What is the Race, or class you are asking to play?

Any class/race specific nuances: An example of this would be what guises does your Drake take, what powers can your spirit grant or what flight is your Drakonid from?

Give us a brief history of your character: This doesn’t have to be as comprehensive as a regular app would be, but some information is required

What is your main drive and purpose in playing this character: Do you wish to antagonise the players when playing as a Giant or an Ettin, do you wish to share secrets specific to a class, or a race with other players and drive role play that way such as sharing the secrets of chronomancy with Timewalkers and guarding the Timeways as a Bronze Drake.”

This little format is to be used on the Contact Moderation section of the forums, labelled aptly with “[Character Name: ###] [Contact Mod Race/Class: ###] [Insert little Title Haha Funny Meme Here]” In the title. The title will likely be changed if it’s not kept in line with this as this title format is to be used to better collect information. We're going to be looking at a place where we can put this in the immediate future that allows the community access as the contact mod threads do not, but this goes through with immediate effect.

4. Adding Legendary Weapons to the Limited List

The Legendary Weapons have been with us for almost a year now (maybe longer?) and in that time we’ve seen people come and go, take these weapons for themselves alone and use them in ways that may not befit the weapon itself. From this moment onwards, we’ve decided to put these weapons on the ‘Limited List’ along with Nobles, specific classes and races as we don’t believe it’s fair that people who’re inactive have weapons with such prestige and lore behind them and that others aren’t given a chance to get them.

Players who do become inactive will lose the weapon in one way or another; however the method of its loss will be deliberated either with the previous owner or the new player looking into taking the item at the earliest convenience for them and the moderation team. You will not be forced to go through a revoke application, but if you wish to take it back you will be forced to go through another quest to retrieve it, or regain it, just as another player would be forced to should they wish to take it up.

Thus, the current additions to the Limited List would be everyone who currently has a Legendary weapons, these will be up on the list shortly.

5. Lightforged Warframes

The Moderation team have recently heard talk about players wanting Lightforged Warframes these are said in the canon to be very very strong, cutting through swathes of demons upon demons during the Argus Campaign. Both players and the staff have concerns about them being too powerful for players to handle but in response we’ve decided to treat them a little differently than we see in the canon, at least the player-owned ones.

It was decided that we should treat them, both in terms of power and player ownership, in the same as other Steamsuit but with the added advantage of being made out of Lightforged Iron, naturally these would need to be applied for and so the user must justify any attachments in the app itself rather than having anything for 'free' unfortunately. We reckon this is a nice middle ground between what we actually see in canon and things that we already allow players to have.

6. Technological Attachments on Weapons, Guns and Armour

It was suggested by one of the team that we should change the wording and perhaps be a bit more lax when it comes to technological attachments. We’ve decided to allow all levels of mundane attachments with no application, but if the player wants to apply more than one special attachment to their gun, weapon or armour, including enchantments, then they need to apply for it through a misc app.

- Examples of special attachments would include Thermal Scopes, Scopes that can see magic, attachments that can shoot fire, such as an underslung dragon gun or pressurised Launchers that may fire grenades, or vials of an alchemical solution.

- Examples of more mundane technological attachments would include regular scopes and detachable bayonets.

Be warned, this is not a comprehensive list and shouldn’t be taken as such. WoW's technology can be an exercise in immense creativity given its steampunk nature, so things should be brought up individually when curious if an application is required.

7. Class Mounts

Given we’re at the point in the story where Class Mounts are being given out, it felt appropriate to decide how we were going to be giving these out. Thus we have a little list now.

The mounts listed under “Single Event/Reputation” are rather simple and basic, these could be given out at the end of Broken Shore, pending DM approval or could be gotten through a single event request.

The mounts listed under “Several Events” are mounts that would only be given to the champions of these specific factions, people who have gone out of their way to impress the Valarjar or the Ebon Blade as an example.

However the only one that we decided to not allow at all was the High Priests Lightsworn Seeker, apparently there are only three in existence, so that makes it hard for us to hand these out without other Priest players possibly feeling left out.

Single Event/Reputation Reward:
Highlord’s Charger (Paladin)
Nehterlords Wrathsteed (Warlock)
Slayers Felbroken Shrieker (Demon Hunter)
Huntmaster’s Wolfhawk (Hunters)
Archmage’s Prismatic Disc (Mages)
Shadowblade’s Omen (Rogue)

Multiple Events for your faction:
Deathlord’s Vanquisher (Death Knights)
Ban-Lu Grandmasters Champion (Monks, please note, any of these tigers given out are not the named Ban-Lu but they will be a part of Xuen's litter)
Far Seer’s Raging Tempest (Shaman)
Battlelord’s Bloodthirsty War Wyrm (Warrior)
Lunarwing Form (Druids) (Recommended for Talon Druids, but others may request access)

Not Allowed:
High Priests Lightsworn Seeker

Thank you for reading! The community are encouraged to approach the Moderation Team or the Admin with any doubts or concerns regarding these soon-to-be implemented changes.

Kind Regards,

Paragon Moderation Team & Administration.

I like the direction these changes are taking us, and I'm totally onboard. I was always curious why Drakonids were forbidden when mature Dragons weren't.

What about Black Dragonspawn and Black Drakonid? There are very few surviving black draggos left, but that doesn't necessarily have to be true of their lesser kin. And supposing there are enough to be worth mentioning, will they have free reign because of a lack of leadership, or will they be corralled by, for example, Wrathion?

Other than that, I think this is all pretty cool.

I have another question regarding modifications. Some tech mods, in theory, can quite literally be pulled off of one weapon and put on to another. Usually, these are mundane, but "special" ones might fall under this category too. Like special scopes or underbarrel devices, etc. Will any restrictions be enforced on transferring mods between items?

Depends on the Modifications, since those that are usually very special end up being very attached to the weapon. This is things like a special kind of trigger etc. But in the case that we say the person has a special scope and a special underslung device that require an app, just a quick contact mod or a poke to one of us would be enough.
